INTRODUCTION
The organisms present in the aquarium (algae, bacteria and parasites) when come in contact with UVC rays have a change in their DNA and die. Organisms attached to the decorations or into the sand are not affected by these rays and they will be removed (algae and dirt) with special equipment (HAQUOSS AQUASCRUB or HAQUOSS ELECTRIC WASHER).
The water that passes through the lamp must be firstly filtered; another very important parameter for maximum bactericidal effect is the speed with which the water goes through the bulb of the lamp sterilizer, and that is why you need to follow the tables in next pages. This unique “UVC” system allows you to not endanger the bacterial life present in the aquarium filter, and therefore does not alter the biological balance into the eco-system.

DAILY LIGHTING TIME
There isn’t a mathematical parameter to indicate how many hours the lamp need to stay ON because the time depends on the quality of water to be treated. If the presence of algae is high or there are diseases (ICHTIO, FUNGUS, etc…) we suggest always to leave the lamp ON until the problem is solve. In normal use, 1 Watt of power treat 40/50 liters of aquarium water and nearly 200 liters of pond water. Suspend the operation during the administration of any medicine and / or liquid food. The lamp’s life is directly proportional to the number of ignitions and the power surges.

STERILIZER POWER IN FRESHWATER
AGAINST ICHTIO : This is manifested by ectoparasites white dots on the fish skin. 
It lives, latent, in the water and attacks the animals when there are changes in temperature. 
UV lamp DELETE this parasite in the latent life. When it has already attacked the fish, also use specific products and raise the water temperature of about 3 or 4 ° C.

AGAINST THE COAST AND THE CHILODONELLA : Same situation as ICHTIO.
CORROSION OF FINS: Basic use of the lamp as this disease occurs due to excessive organic load 
(nitrates and ammonia) and the lamp, clarifying the water, eliminates bacteria trigger from the episode; 
it is recommended a concomitant siphoning of the bottom and a partial change of water.

MICOS (FUNGUS AND SAPROLEGNA): Same situation as ICHTIO
In conclusion, the lamp is a key element in the prevention of disease into the aquarium. 
Conditions as described above is recommended to keep the lamp ON during the treatment but also aerate 
the aquarium because lamp and the medicines may reduce considerably the presence of oxygen. This is easily 
detectable when the fish swim on the surface. The continued use of the lamp, in combination with preventive 
foods like HAQUOSS ALLIUM FLAKE or HAQUOSS ALLIUM GRAN, is highly recommended every time you introduce new fish or plants into the aquarium.

STERILIZER POWER IN MARINE WATER
AGAINST OODINIUM : Particularly effective use of the lamp to eliminate this type of parasite.
CONTRAINDICATIONS : The lamp can be used continuously in aquariums populated only by fish. In the presence of invertebrates, during the administration of liquid food, the lamp should be suspended because it eliminates the micro-organisms such as zooplankton and phytoplankton in parallel to the interruption of the functioning of the skimmer.

ATTENTION
UV lamps, if used in ponds, DON’T have the sterilization power against fish sickness but they’ll only help the water against algae.
